Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation seeks a Structural Materials Field Construction Engineer III, IV, or V to support STR’s field inspection teams across Texas. The role involves on-site reviews, QA testing, and program development to ensure material quality for prestressed concrete and structural steel bridge components.
The position requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, a Texas PE license is preferred, and a valid driver’s license for state vehicle operation.
Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science (TX PELS accepted).
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred/required for progression.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a state vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and provide technical support.
- Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
- Develop and maintain STR quality assurance programs and procedures.
- Provide engineering support to field inspection personnel across TXDOT districts.
- Prepare reports, specifications and test procedures.
- Participate in development of budgets and program improvements.
