Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in the Waco area seeks Construction Inspector II–IV in Structural Materials to inspect fabrications, assure compliance with plans, and support bridge and highway projects statewide.

The role requires coordinating with fabricators, performing material tests, and reporting findings to a licensed professional engineer. Travel up to 25% is expected; on-site work at multiple plants included.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
• 1 year of experience in construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection.
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications may apply with related college education or technical training.

Responsibilities

• Inspects fabrication methods to ensure fabricators build structures per plans and specs.
• Acts as consultant on progress and problem resolution; may be the sole QA inspector in a plant.
• May perform material tests and manufacturing process inspections at multiple plants.
