Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician to lead tests, commissioning, and troubleshooting across critical energy infrastructure projects in the U.S. You will work hands-on with LV–HV equipment, mentor field staff, and coordinate with customers to ensure safety and success.

The role requires 7–10+ years in the power industry, strong knowledge of substations and protection systems, and travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of hands-on experience in the power industry, including P&C systems and field commissioning
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment, MV/HV breakers, and electrical system troubleshooting
• Familiar with OSHA, NETA standards and electrical safety procedures
• Prior experience leading crews and mentoring field technicians
• Ability to develop and execute test plans for complex upgrades and installations
• Willingness to travel ~75% across the continental U.S.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors at heights and in confined spaces
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Available for extended and irregular hours as needed

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced testing, commissioning, and maintenance on LV–HV equipment
• Perform diagnostics using specialized test equipment
• Test and verify protective relays and control systems
• Develop test plans and commissioning procedures for upgrades
• Supervise field crews and ensure safety, quality, and compliance
• Complete reports and documentation using Power DB and other platforms
• Interface with customers to gather requirements and provide updates
• Enforce safety protocols (LOTO, PPE) on job sites
• Mentor junior technicians and manage field crews
