Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician in Dallas, TX to lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on LV–HV equipment across power plants, substations, and industrial facilities. You will mentor junior technicians and supervise field crews while ensuring safety and quality in every project.

The ideal candidate has 7–10+ years in the power industry, strong substation knowledge, and proficiency with Power DB and safety standards. Travel up to 75% across the continental U.S.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in the power industry with field commissioning experience.
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment and electrical systems.
• Proficient with Power DB, MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Familiar with OSHA, NETA standards, and safety procedures.
• Experience mentoring field technicians and leading crews.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, commissioning, and maintenance on LV–HV equipment (480V–600kV).
• Perform diagnostics using specialized test equipment (Doble, TTR, VLF, etc.).
• Test and verify protective relays (electromechanical to microprocessor-based).
• Develop test plans and execute commissioning procedures for upgrades.
• Supervise field crews, assign tasks, and ensure safety and quality.
• Complete reports and document results using Power DB and other platforms.
• Interface with customers to gather requirements and provide updates.
• Adhere to LOTO protocols and PPE usage on job sites.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles; mentor juniors.
