Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services seeks a Lead Field Service Technician – EST to guide emissions reduction projects and mechanical upgrades on reciprocating compression equipment across North America. You will own installations, startups, and major repairs, mentoring field technicians while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience with reciprocating engines and compression equipment in oil and gas.
• Electrical and Controls experience supporting reciprocating compression equipment.
• Experience leading field crews and maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Willingness to travel extensively (200–300 days annually) across North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crews executing emissions reduction and mechanical upgrade projects on reciprocating compression equipment.
• Own installations, commissioning, start-ups, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repairs while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
• Direct removal and replacement of critical engine components (turbochargers, power assemblies, fuel systems).
• Diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement solutions to maximize reliability and uptime.
• Collaborate with customers, field operations, engineering, and project teams from kickoff to completion.
• Monitor performance, identify improvements, and recommend operational enhancements.
• Lead daily safety discussions, conduct jobsite inspections, and champion safety culture.
• Mentor technicians and develop future field service talent.
• Represent Cooper Machinery Services as a trusted technical expert.
