Job summary

pro-beam is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, and repair complex industrial machinery across North America. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control issues, perform hands-on repairs, and support customer installations with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Training in Germany will be provided. This role requires 50–80% travel, substantial independence at customer sites, and collaboration with international engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on field service experience with complex industrial machinery or capital equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience installing, commissioning, servicing, or repairing industrial equipment.
• Ability to independently diagnose machine failures and perform hands-on corrective work.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery, industrial drives, motors, sensors, and machine safety systems.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills and a methodical troubleshooting approach.
• Ability to work independently at customer locations and collaborate with engineering teams when necessary.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50–80% across North America and internationally for training.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex industrial machinery at customer locations.
• Independently diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control-related machine failures and identify effective corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot components such as motors, drives, sensors, electrical circuits, safety systems, machine controls, and industrial communication networks.
• Perform hands-on mechanical repairs, component replacements, adjustments, and equipment testing.
• Support new machine installations, start-up procedures, functional testing, and customer acceptance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, and technical service interventions.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering and service specialists in Germany on complex technical issues.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and other service personnel.
• Document service findings, repairs, and technical recommendations.
• Support service and equipment activities at the Lombard facility as needed.
• Participate in technical training in Germany to develop expertise in electron beam, vacuum, and high‑voltage technology.
