Job summary

Kiewit Energy U.S. is seeking a Mid Level Safety Specialist to implement and support the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA, MSHA and company policies.

The role involves coordinating with operations and craft, conducting hazard assessments, leading corrective actions, and maintaining project files. Strong communication and independent work ethic are essential.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or EMT is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail; ability to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in varying environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, update, and communicate the Site Specific Safety Plan to all workers and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure policy adherence.
• Plan and problem-solve with field operations using leading indicator trends.
• Support staff and craft to execute the Site Specific Safety Plan.
• Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA and company policies.
• Assist with first aid and liaise with EMS and clinics.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and close out corrective actions.
• Review work plans prior to start of work.
• Provide safe guidance and oversight on site.
