Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is seeking a Senior Personal Safety Professional to provide field leadership and practical safety expertise across a broad geographic footprint, including Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The role emphasizes risk identification, safeguards, and safe execution of work in collaboration with terminal leadership and operations.

Travel is substantial (40-50%), and the position involves developing safety plans, conducting training, and supporting incident response.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 4+ years.
• Ability to manage complex projects with limited support.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Preferred: CSP, CIH, CHMM certifications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local point of contact for safety programs across the coverage area and lead safety initiatives.
• Lead monthly safety meetings and assist operations in improving safety meetings.
• Provide safety training and assess Life Critical skills of employees.
• Review and approve commissioning/decommissioning/recommissioning plans and related safety documents.
• Support Life Critical, Contractor Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and AWARE programs in the field.
• Perform audits and job-site visits to identify hazards and compliance gaps.
• Develop and review standard operating procedures and safety procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in the ICS; mentor junior staff.
