Job summary

Opti Staffing seeks an experienced HSE Leader to head the safety function across complex operations in Alaska. This role reports to the CEO and partners with COO and senior leaders to implement safety management, incident investigations, and preventive actions across locations in Alaska.

The successful candidate will lead strategic safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and engage frontline teams to foster a Just Culture and continuous safety improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible safety experience in EMS, aviation, healthcare, transportation, emergency services, or other high-risk environments.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective action, hazard identification, and injury prevention.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety principles in high-risk operations.
• Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends and translate findings into prevention strategies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, facilitation, and influencing skills across frontline and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization’s safety strategy and SMS with emphasis on injury prevention.
• Maintain a visible safety presence across Alaska operations to identify hazards and improve practices.
• Promote Just Culture, safety reporting, accountability, and organizational learning.
• Identify emerging risks and develop practical prevention strategies with operational leaders.
• Lead or coordinate investigations involving injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards including root-cause analysis.
• Develop and track corrective and preventive actions through completion.
• Analyze injury trends and safety metrics to set prevention priorities.
• Maintain OSHA, CAMTS, state and federal safety compliance, audits and reporting.
• Coordinate safety programs, drills, inspections, meetings and documentation.
• Oversee occupational health programs including screenings, fit-for-duty and exposure prevention.
