Canyon Contracting in Richmond, VA is seeking a Field Layout Engineer to translate designs into precise field layouts, using state-of-the-art instruments to maintain accuracy. You will own the layout process from ground up, ensuring alignment with project specs and safety standards.

You will coordinate with superintendents, foremen, and carpenters to install anchors and embeds, review drawings, and produce as-built records. This role offers competitive pay, benefits, and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of field engineering in concrete construction.
• Ability to read complex blueprints, structural drawings, RFIs, and ASIs.
• Proficient in CAD for field layout.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a strong problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute precise project layouts using control lines and benchmarks.
• Review shop drawings, blueprints, RFIs to update designs and avoid delays.
• Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, and carpenters to layout anchors and embeds.
• Create as-built drawings documenting changes and notify supervisors promptly.
• Inspect layout instruments to ensure field accuracy and uptime.
• Analyze blueprints for constructability, safety, and efficiency to prevent conflicts.
