Job summary

American Engineering Testing Inc in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Technician 3 to serve as a senior field and laboratory tester. You will lead complex construction materials testing, mentor junior staff, and support project management while ensuring quality and safety compliance.

You will apply ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI standards, coordinate field operations, and engage with clients, performing advanced sampling and data interpretation in a field-and-lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in construction materials testing.
• Advanced knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Capable of the physical labor required including field work and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee advanced field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, bituminous, and masonry products.
• Act as lead technician on multi-phase projects, coordinating field teams and schedules.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to coordinate testing and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and QA/QC standards.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
