Job summary

ALSO is seeking a seasoned engineer to drive embedded systems development for new EV products in the Bay Area. You will work across hardware and software to troubleshoot, validate fixes, and support pilots with telematics, firmware updates, and field data analyses.

Ideal candidates have strong HV awareness, experience with CAN tooling, cloud services, and data processing in SQL/Python, plus the ability to travel up to 50% for cross-functional collaboration and field visits.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience working with Embedded Systems.
• 3+ years working on new product introduction.
• HV awareness and electronics experience up to 100V+.
• Experience with service tools and cloud services.
• Basic SQL and Python for data processing.
• Familiar with JIRA/Confluence for planning.
• Knowledge of automotive bus CAN/CAN FD/SPI and Vector tools.
• Ability to define features for hardware and cloud.
• Understanding of powertrain basics and safety interlocks.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the new product introduction of new products and platforms.
• Present findings to engineering teams and leadership to drive resolution.
• Troubleshoot using proprietary CAN tools and reproduce faults.
• Pull logs, decode DTCs, run isolation tests, identify root causes.
• Support pilots and fleet running, prep vehicles, commission telematics.
• Maintain fleet firmware via OTA updates.
• Update service troubleshooting manuals with new learnings.
• Collaborate with service partners to gather field failure insights.
• Travel to customer locations for field insights.
• Build data visualization tools and dashboards for telemetry data ingestions.
