Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Deputy Install Manager to lead construction staff and coordinate execution at Fermilab in Lead, SD. The role focuses on safety, quality, schedule, and cost control in collaboration with project management and laboratory operations.

You will ensure compliance with contract specs, maintain thorough documentation, and manage subcontractors from pre-job meetings to final acceptance while supporting environmental, health, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• OR Associate degree (or equivalent experience) with 15+ years of heavy industrial/construction experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract security requirements; ability to pass federal background investigation for DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Construction Specialist staff, including training, timecard approvals, and performance management.
• Partner with project management to define scope, labor requirements, materials, and execution strategy for construction work.
• Coordinate procurement of materials and ensure accurate documentation of work in progress and completed activities.
• Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
• Prepare cost estimates, validate subcontractor invoices, and conduct final acceptance inspections.
• Review and negotiate subcontractor change requests; escalate major impacts to project leadership as needed.
• Monitor project schedules and proactively address delays, conflicts, or subcontractor performance issues.
• Coordinate construction activities with active laboratory operations, including utility impacts, traffic control, and site logistics.
• Oversee subcontractor compliance with ES&H requirements, OSHA standards, manufacturer specifications, and hazard analyses.
• Ensure subcontractors execute proper planning and quality control processes from pre-job meetings through final acceptance.
