Job summary

BL Companies is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our growing CEI team, supporting CTDOT highway and bridge projects, municipal improvements, and select private-sector assignments. You will oversee field inspections, ensure contract compliance, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and project teams in hybrid work environments.

This role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring safety standards across projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on roadway, bridge, or utility projects.
• Familiar with CTDOT specifications and documentation requirements.
• Ability to work independently in field settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily inspection of roadway/bridge construction to ensure contract compliance.
• Monitor contractor operations and utility work per project requirements.
• Prepare daily reports with activities, labor, equipment, and quantities.
• Verify pay quantities and maintain project records for payments.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers, clients, and testing firms.
• Observe material deliveries, sampling, and testing per specs.
• Identify non-conforming work and assist resolution with the project team.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and project safety rules.
• Attend project meetings and support stakeholder communication.
• Provide guidance to junior inspection staff.
