Job summary

RK&K is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our CEI team in and around Charlotte, NC. The role conducts field inspections for transportation and highway construction projects in the heavy civil industry, ensuring conformity to plans, specs, and provisions.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of roadway inspection experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions
• Multitask management of project assignments
• Conduct field inspections
• Use mobile devices to document work - as required in North Carolina
• Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected
• Documents the results of the inspection and communicates to the supervisor
• Conducts field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
• Inspects work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolution
