Job summary

STV Transportation Group in Hartford, CT seeks a Senior Electrical or Mechanical Inspector to lead field inspections from installation through commissioning, ensuring compliance with contracts and codes. The role requires strong collaboration with engineers, contractors, and agency staff to resolve issues and document progress.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience or equivalent certifications, with expertise in CT building systems and CEI processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience or CMIT Level 4, NICET Level 3 or applicable trade license with 6 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection.
• Experience with electrical or mechanical building and infrastructure systems.
• Strong understanding of CTDOT CEI processes, contract administration, and construction documentation.
• Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections during installation through commissioning, to verify electrical and/or mechanical systems are compliant with contract documents including plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable codes.
• Document construction activities and maintain daily inspection reports, project records, and quantity documentation.
• Review contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), work plans, test reports, and as-built documentation.
• Support field inspection teams by providing technical assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to project requirements.
• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and agency representatives, to facilitate project success.
