Job summary

ERM is hiring a Lead Biological Environmental Inspector to oversee environmental compliance during construction for a transmission and distribution project in northern Nevada and southern Idaho. This full-time, limited-term role lasts 18 months with potential extension and requires extensive field work and travel.

You will train crews, conduct field inspections, coordinate with agencies, implement mitigation, and document findings using MS Office, GPS tools, Field Maps, and Survey123.

Qualifications

• BS or BA preferred or 6 years of relevant construction experience.
• 10+ years in environmental inspection, monitoring or permitting on energy projects.
• Experience with electric transmission projects and BLM lands preferred.
• Strong communication skills and field leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct environmental training for construction personnel.
• Perform field inspections and environmental monitoring of construction activities.
• Document compliance with environmental permits in daily reports.
• Coordinate with agencies, landowners, and contractors; notify as required.
• Provide technical leadership and schedule field staff activities.
• Evaluate potential environmental impacts and mitigation measures.
• Oversee flagging, waterbody boundaries, and exclusion zones.
• Travel extensively; work 40–70+ hours per week in demanding conditions.
