Job summary

Metra's Capital Delivery Department oversees design, construction, and administration of capital projects including stations, parking, and track work. The Senior Field Engineer will lead large civil construction projects and coordinate with contractors, consultants, and Metra teams to ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent experience, eight years in civil engineering/construction, and strong knowledge of railroad operations, Excel/Word

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Eight years of civil engineering/construction experience, preferably in rail/transit.
• Knowledge of railroad operations, track construction, maintenance, or design.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis in Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal, written, organization, analytical and problem solving skills.
• A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Implement large and complex railroad and civil construction projects.
• Interface with construction contractors, consultants, and Metra forces to ensure project completion.
• Coordinate with municipal and state agencies, railroads, and property owners.
• Review design drawings, specifications, and estimates for accuracy.
• Monitor QA/QC programs to ensure compliance and proper maintenance.
• Provide guidance on day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department.
