Job summary
Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems seeks a Principal Field Engineer to support the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program at the Ground-Based site in Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. The role covers maintenance of IFICS Data Terminal hardware/software, GCN and GFC/C systems with customer interface and on-call support.
The candidate must hold an active Secret clearance, DoD 8570 certification, and be able to travel ~10%.
Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
- DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+).
- LAN fundamentals and TCP/IP networking experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Experience with Redhat/Linux, Windows and virtualization.
Responsibilities
- Interface with the MDA customer on site as needed.
- Maintain GMD assets to 99% availability to the customer.
- Provide maintenance for IDT, GCN, GFC/C systems.
- Report anomalies in line with maintenance policy.
- Support site visits and brief on upgrades/obsolescence.
- Attend program meetings and prepare slides for decisions.
- Support hardware/software integration, upgrades, repairs.
- Perform software patching and antivirus updates per contract.
