Job summary

WCI Electric in Santa Clara, California, seeks an experienced Lead Journeyman Electrician to join a small, owner-operated team. This hands-on leadership role runs commercial service calls, tenant-improvement projects, and light electrical installations, with direct access to the owner.

Initially you’ll learn our standards and customer base, then independently manage projects and mentor junior electricians. Compensation ranges from $50–$75 per hour, full-time, with overtime and growth

Qualifications

• Current California General Electrician Certification.
• At least five years of journeyman-level experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Strong commercial service, troubleshooting, and tenant-improvement experience.
• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
• Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable local codes.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Quality- and detail-oriented.
• Dependable attendance and follow-through.
• Valid California driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance provider.
• Ability to safely operate a company service vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage commercial service calls and electrical projects.
• Lead commercial tenant-improvement and light construction work.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment.
• Install and service panels, transformers, feeders, branch circuits, lighting, controls, EV chargers, and electrical equipment.
• Read and work from plans, specifications, and electrical drawings.
• Plan labor, materials, equipment, and jobsite requirements.
• Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, vendors, and other trades.
• Provide clear job updates, photographs, material records, and documentation.
• Identify change orders and communicate additional work before proceeding.
• Direct and mentor future electricians, apprentices, and helpers.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized, and professional jobsites.
• Perform occasional residential service and high-end residential work when needed.
