Job summary

Ampirical is seeking a Field Distribution Specialist III to join our Cappstone Energy Group. You’ll design and support electric distribution projects, focusing on line extensions, upgrades, and permitting, with most travel within the state to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in electric distribution design, strong NESC and RUS knowledge, and proficiency in GIS/CAD tools, plus excellent coordination and communication skills for field staff and engineers alike.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in electric distribution design or related utility work.
• Strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, equipment, and design practices.
• Proficiency in design/drafting software, GIS, or related tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform field assessments and collect data for all types of line extensions, and line upgrades.
• Design and draft distribution layouts, ensuring compliance with company standards, engineering specifications, and safety regulations.
• Prepare detailed construction packages including staking sheets and drawings.
• Support senior designers and engineers in higher-complexity designs.
• Coordinate with internal teams and field crews to clarify design intent and resolve construction issues.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety policies, NESC standards, RUS standards (if applicable) and applicable regulations.
• Design and submit required permits for the Department of Transportation, railroad companies, county roads, transmission line encroachments, etc., as needed for your assigned jobs.
• Maintain accurate records and update design systems with project and field data.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to team efficiency initiatives.
