Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Project Engineer’s Office Assistant who will lead a team of inspectors in Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, Superpave Asphaltic Concrete Pavement, Structural Concrete, Sub-Surface Drainage, and Embankment & Base Course testing. This promotional opportunity is open only to current permanent DOTD employees.

The role requires interpreting unforeseen conditions, coordinating contract administration, and participating in DOTD

Qualifications

• Education and experience aligned with DOTD requirements for construction inspection.
• Ability to interpret contract specs, density testing and field data collection.
• Willingness to participate in DOTD training and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Oversees contractor compliance with project specifications, safety signage, and quality standards.
• Manages project documents including pay items, audits, and quantity validations.
• Collects field data and cross sections, prepares sketches, and calculates design quantities.
• Supports general construction office functions and ensures departmental efficiency.
• Performs additional duties including emergency or disaster response.
