Job summary

Addison Group in Smithfield, NC is seeking a hands-on Senior Fiberglass Design Engineer to own products from concept through design, testing, manufacturing, and launch. Located 100% onsite, the role combines design work on fiberglass/composite structures with on-floor troubleshooting and process improvement.

You will lead 75% design work, 15% sustaining, 10% material design, collaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and others, and oversee stage-gate projects while ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Composite Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of design engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on fiberglass/composite design and manufacturing experience for structural applications.
• Experience with LRTM, RTM, compression molding, injection molding, reaction injection molding, and SMC.
• Strong 3D CAD/solid modeling and FEA capabilities.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and development from concept through production and launch.
• Manage projects through stage-gate development processes.
• Design molds and tooling for composite materials.
• Coordinate prototypes, testing, ECNs, and BOMs.
• Work with manufacturing to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.
• Support sustainability and cost-reduction initiatives.
