Job summary

The county government legal office in the Pacific Northwest is seeking a seasoned criminal law attorney to assume the role of Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. This senior, hands-on leadership position handles felony prosecutions with substantial trial volume and the opportunity to shape prosecutorial strategy.

Qualifications

• Active member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association and admitted to practice law in Washington.
• Significant experience trying felony cases and handling appeals.
• Experience supervising legal staff and training law enforcement personnel.

Responsibilities

• Review police reports and evidence to make charging decisions across felonies and higher-level crimes.
• Prosecute the county's felony caseload from charging through verdict and sentencing.
• Carry cases across district, superior, and juvenile courts; handle appeals as needed.
• Conduct plea negotiations and make sentencing recommendations.
• Prepare and try felony trials and supervise staff and interns.
