Job summary

IREX is seeking a Senior Program Officer to lead and support educational institutes hosting Fellows for 6-week Institutes across three tracks. You’ll manage subawards, partner communications, Fellow placement, and program data, while guiding junior staff to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, prudent judgment on partner issues, and translating funder asks into program success, with a focus on collaboration and impact across the Mandela Washington

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience managing international education or exchange programs.
• Experience coordinating with universities, funders, and partners.
• Experience addressing participant issues with diplomacy and tact.
• Ability to travel domestically and support activities during evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day Institute tasks and projects to ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
• Serve as primary contact for an assigned portfolio of ~10–12 educational institutions, including planning touchpoints.
• Execute and manage subawards, including budget review/approval and closeout, in compliance with regulations.
• Coach junior staff and drive workflow improvements across teams.
• Support proposal development and partner engagement as needed.
