Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Experienced Background Investigator to support a national Background Investigations program. This full-time role involves interviewing individuals undergoing security clearances, conducting comprehensive records checks, and producing concise, detailed reporting for multiple federal agencies.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with an active federal BI (T5) and at least one year of related experience or a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of Federal Background Investigation experience.
• Active federal background investigation with T5 adjudication.
• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of general work experience.
• Ability to work from a home office and manage field writing efficiently.
• Strong written and verbal communication; confidentiality and integrity required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with individuals under security clearances and references.
• Perform records searches at police, courthouses, educational, financial, and medical facilities.
• Compile detailed, accurate investigative reports for federal agencies.
• Work independently within a field team under a Field Manager.
• Maintain professional conduct, punctuality, and high confidentiality.
