Job Overview: A boutique family law firm in the California Bay Area is seeking a Senior Family Law Attorney to lead and manage a variety of family law cases. The firm is looking for a compassionate and skilled attorney to make a meaningful impact on clients' lives through diverse cases, including divorce, custody, support, and property division. This position offers an exciting, fast-paced work environment where the Senior Attorney will balance legal expertise, client advocacy, and team collaboration. While primarily a remote work position, in-person attendance will be required for court appearances and occasional client meetings.

Location:

  • Oakland, California

Duties:

  • Handle a variety of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division matters.
  • Represent clients in court, including making all in-court appearances.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs to support client cases.
  • Meet with clients in-office as required, providing timely legal advice and case updates.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, other attorneys, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Attend mediation and settlement conferences to negotiate favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients to build trust and ensure they feel supported throughout the legal process.
  • Stay up to date with family law trends and legal developments to provide the most effective representation.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in family law.
  • Active admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • Exceptional writing skills, demonstrated through writing samples.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • A client-focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
  • Strong professional references supporting expertise and professionalism.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar (Required).

  • Proven ability to handle a range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills for settlement discussions.
  • Ability to balance multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality legal work.
