Job summary

GlobalFoundries’ Fab 9 in Essex Junction, Vermont seeks a Sr. Technician for Microelectronics Failure Analysis to join its advanced analytical lab. You will perform SIM analyses to support yield and failure investigations, prepare samples, and optimize tool conditions under supervision.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in a technical lab, strong problem-solving, and English fluency, with training provided in advanced analytical methods. A 2‑year degree is required, with a bachelor’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, physics, materials science, electronics, or related field or equivalent military training.
• 2–4 years’ relevant technical lab or manufacturing experience.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to learn new technical concepts and operate complex equipment.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).
• Familiarity with sample preparation techniques (cleaving, polishing, etching).
• Exposure to failure analysis or materials characterization.
• Experience with data documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform SIM analysis to support yield, reliability, and manufacturing investigations.
• Follow procedures and contribute to lab practice improvements.
• Prepare samples for analysis using techniques such as mechanical cleaving.
• Assist in selecting and optimizing tool conditions for high-quality data.
• Analyze and document results with guidance from engineers and senior technicians.
• Collaborate with failure analysis engineers on investigation strategies.
• Support tool maintenance and safe operation of lab equipment.
• Participate in training to deepen SIM operation and interpretation.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and teamwork culture in the lab.
