As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the entire Walt Disney World (WDW) Orlando property, including all Facility Operation Services (FOS) organization and occasional Operating Teams. Your role involves developing future work plans, overseeing ongoing projects, and providing high-level technical support to our clients.

You will report to the Manager of Programs Project Design Support.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include:

  1. Design reviews, hand calculations, creation of engineering drawings, and field installation support.
  2. Assisting with field troubleshooting of facility mechanical equipment (HVAC, boilers, pools, kitchens, pumps, fire alarm, smoke evacuation) to prevent downtimes.
  3. Reviewing and approving job plans, revising drawings, reviewing shop drawings, submittals, specifications, and documentation packages.

Additional key responsibilities:

  • Streamline Design Processes: Implement tools and methodologies to improve design reviews and calculations, utilizing CAD/Revit software.
  • Enhance Troubleshooting Skills: Troubleshoot mechanical equipment to quickly resolve issues and reduce downtime.
  • Stay Industry-Standard Compliant: Keep updated on standards, codes, and technological advances through seminars and publications.
  • Develop Asset Management Strategies: Collaborate on strategies for lifecycle, replacement, and energy efficiency of mechanical systems.
  • Provide Technical Guidance: Offer expertise and facilitate learning for project teams.
  • Vendor Relationships: Cultivate external vendor and consultant relationships for new product and technology insights.
  • Internal Education: Conduct training sessions on standards, product specs, and energy goals.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in planning to align with business and energy objectives, including lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Document Best Practices: Maintain documentation standards for consistency and quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: Solicit feedback and implement process enhancements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • PE License
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in designing HVAC, plumbing, fuel and gas, ventilation, pools, and kitchen systems.
  • Experience leading process improvements and solving complex problems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Strong skills in classical and computer-based engineering analyses, including heat load, energy modeling, and heat transfer calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in similar design roles.
Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
