Job summary

YWCA Kalamazoo is seeking a Maintenance Technician IV to ensure the safe and reliable operation of its facilities in Parchment, Michigan. This non-supervisory role requires advanced maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, coordinating small teams of volunteers, and working with external contractors under Manager Band expectations.

The position is full-time, on-site, with typical weekday hours and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of maintenance or facilities experience.
• Experience leading a maintenance project or facilities initiative.
• Ability to coordinate volunteers or temporary helpers as needed.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, building systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving across multi-system issues.
• Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and codes.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and utility providers.
• Must lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-system maintenance and repair across all YWCA facilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry issues.
• Lead preventative maintenance program to optimize facility performance.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics to guide work.
• Evaluate capital improvements and maintenance priorities.
• Lead assigned facilities projects from planning to completion.
• Coordinate with volunteers and temporary helpers as needed.
• Track progress, materials, timelines, and report to Director.
• Support renovations and major repairs with project planning.
• Non-supervisory role with no supervisory authority over employees.
