Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Downtown Campus is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to join our Facilities team. This role provides journeyman-level maintenance across plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and related trades to keep campus buildings and systems running safely and efficiently.

Work includes inspections, recordkeeping, on-call after-hours support, and guidance to Maintenance I and II staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
• Five (5) years of related work experience.
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Provides journeyman-level maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
• Provides journeyman level skills in the performance of a variety of maintenance tasks to include installing, maintaining and repairing electrical motors and switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings and accessories; installation and repair of plumbing in new construction or remodeling; stains and refinishes furniture, and performs other general carpentry work connected with remodeling and construction; prepares surfaces prior to applying any variety of coverings; taping, floating sheetrock joints, and other conditioning work in connection with new construction or remodeling.
• Inspects completed work for conformance to all specifications and regulations; maintains daily records of work performed; cross-trains with various shops; and reports need for specific repairs to supervisors.
• Submits reports on the status and costs of maintenance projects.
• Serves in an on-call maintenance capacity to support after-hours and weekend operational needs.
• Provides supervision, guidance and training to maintenance workers I's and II's.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
