Job summary

State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks a Maintenance Supervisor 2 to provide first-line supervision for the South Region Meriden facility, overseeing a team of trades, technicians and custodians. The role ensures regulatory compliance and supports capital projects and emergency repairs across multiple sites.

The position requires extensive maintenance expertise, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to coordinate schedules, inspections and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings.
• Four years of general experience must include performing skilled tasks in either the maintenance and repair of buildings or the military experience referenced above.
• Experience supervising large crews of skilled workers and support staff.
• Experience with snow and ice removal and related duties.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Access.
• Experience with the Emaint work order system.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff.
• Provides staff training and assistance.
• Conducts performance evaluations.
• Determines priorities and plans crew work.
• Establishes and maintains crew procedures.
• Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards.
• Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures.
• Prepares reports and correspondence.
• Performs some of the more skilled duties involved.
• May make plans and cost estimates of work.
• Performs related duties as required.
