Job summary

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is seeking an Associate Director of Construction & Maintenance to lead upkeep, remodeling, and life support systems across SDZWA facilities in San Diego, Safari Park, Beckman Center, Rancho Bernardo Warehouse, and remote hubs. You will manage in-house trades and external vendors, and report to the Director of Facilities.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years leading, mentoring teams.
• 5+ years in construction or hospitality.
• Experience with civil/structural/electrical/mechanical or project delivery fields preferred.
• Experience with branded spaces or wildlife/plant habitats preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor in-house trade staff and external vendors.
• Develop preventative maintenance strategies and ensure 5-star service standards.
• Oversee budgets, permits, bids, and contracts to minimize disruption.
• Drive safety compliance and regulatory adherence across sites.
