Job summary

The State of Washington Dept. of Transportation seeks a Senior Facilities HVAC Specialist to maintain critical building systems and support operations across regional facilities. Expect advanced diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and safety‑driven decision making.

You will work with HVAC, EMS, and BAS equipment, read blueprints, and coordinate with contractors to ensure reliable performance. Some flexibility in scheduling is possible.

Qualifications

• HVAC trade experience including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read plans/blueprints and interpret HVAC system specifications.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate state-owned vehicles.
• EPA Class 2 or EPA Universal Refrigeration license required within 6 months.
• EL06 Electrical License and knowledge of building automation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems, controls, and equipment.
• Diagnose issues, develop repair strategies, and coordinate with contractors.
• Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications for HVAC systems.
• Monitor building set points remotely using web-enabled monitoring systems.
• Operate vehicles and work from heights up to 50+ feet with safety practices.
• Respond to emergencies and standby calls as needed.
