Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH in Athens, GA seeks a Principal Engineer, Facilities to maintain critical site utilities and lead multi-disciplinary maintenance and engineering efforts. You will manage PMs, improve reliability, and drive obsolescence planning to ensure uptime and efficiency.

The role requires hands-on experience with utility systems and cross-functional collaboration across Safety, Quality, and Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field plus 5+ years of maintenance/engineering experience.
• Knowledge of EHS requirements; OSHA knowledge preferred.
• Working knowledge of BI processes, Site/Local and Corporate Policies.
• Ability to manage multi-functional disciplines and regulatory environments.
• Hands-on experience with utilities systems and equipment listed in the job description.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical/automation docs (P&IDs, schematics).
• Experience with risk assessment, root cause investigation, change control, and equipment validation.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate reliable utility systems on site.
• Perform technical analysis of systems for capacity, viability, and sustainable design.
• Develop and manage obsolescence program to improve uptime and efficiency.
• Define PM scope/frequency and spare parts inventory using risk-based methods.
• Lead capital projects as SME; manage small capex to improve critical equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs with outside contractors.
• Plan site shutdowns and coordinate related activities.
• Support quality, safety, and environmental CAPAs and audits.
