Job summary

Douglas County, Nebraska is seeking a Licensed Engineer to lead operation and maintenance of county facilities. The role requires directing work, supervising staff, and coordinating with multiple agencies to ensure safe, efficient building systems.

The incumbent will maintain project documentation, oversee maintenance schedules, and ensure resources are available for routine and emergency work. This position demands strong communication and adherence to civil service policies.

Qualifications

• Third (3rd) Grade Engineer's license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three (3) years of experience as Licensed Engineer required.
• Two (2) years of experience with MSOffice required.

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan, direct, oversee and coordinate the assigned activities in the operation and maintenance of County owned/leased facilities/properties.
• Supervise assigned staff monitoring workload.
• Interact with managers and directors and other agencies to identify building system operation and maintenance needs.
• Establish effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
• Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
• Maintain contract documents (e.g. Drawings, installations, manuals, specifications, repairs, installation, parts) of projects.
