Job summary

Panthalassa is seeking a Senior Facilities Electrical Engineer to own the electrical distribution systems inside our facilities, from main service switchgear to served loads. You will set standards, review designs, plan cutovers, track capacity, and ensure safe, reliable operation long after energization.

Based in Portland, Oregon, this on-site role requires coordinating with the Senior Power Infrastructure Engineer and external designers.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• At least five years managing electrical distribution in industrial facilities.
• Experience owning distribution system end-to-end.
• Experience with medium-voltage distribution and switchgear.
• Proven ability to lead shutdowns and upgrades.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70E/OSHA electrical safety.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical distribution systems across sites and serve as the owner’s technical authority.
• Track usable capacity and inform site power forecasts and upgrade plans.
• Translate needs into distribution plans and phased facility upgrades.
• Set owner-side design standards for distribution equipment and power.
• Lead design reviews, studies, and field changes with engineers of record and contractors.
• Coordinate electrical design with cooling, controls, space planning, and operations.
• Plan and lead shutdowns, cutovers, and energizations with minimal disruption to operations.
• Diagnose power quality issues and set maintenance priorities by system criticality.
• Maintain single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and capacity information.
• Evaluate distribution condition and capacity during due diligence on prospective facilities.
