Job summary

4MP Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Applications and Automation Engineer to own experimental campaigns at our Allentown R&D facility. You will bridge hardware and software, automate data acquisition, and design fixtures for tens of thousands of measurements.

You will analyze results in Python, assess repeatability and drift, and communicate uncertainties. This is an on-site, hands-on role requiring deep metrology and CNC familiarity at our seed-stage company.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experimental engineering in metrology, test automation, or precision systems development.
Experience interfacing sensors, stages, controllers, or instruments to produce synchronized data.
Automation of measurement or test processes end-to-end with repeatable campaigns.
Familiarity with sensing, calibration, noise, drift, and repeatability concepts.
Ability to design fixtures and test parts in CAD and set up experimental hardware.
On-site Allentown, PA facility experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Run bench and on-machine test campaigns with setup, steps, and deviations documented.
Interface optical sensors, stages, axes, logging, and machine controllers with synchronized data chains.
Automate data acquisition so campaigns run without manual intervention.
Design and CAD-fixture specimens required for each experiment.
Oversee machine setup with CNC experts during experimental runs.
Design experiments with clear questions, sampling plans, and controls to separate real effects from noise.
Analyze data in Python, quantify repeatability and drift, and report results with conditions and sample size.
Ensure configuration, positions, timestamps, and operator travel are recorded for data integrity.
