Job summary

Allan Myers is seeking an experienced excavator operator to support our Mass Excavation and Mainline Pipe crews in Virginia. You will operate hydraulic excavators to dig, trench, and grade, following plans and laser levels, while keeping safety at the forefront.

This role requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience, with preferred background in mainline pipe installation. CDL is a plus, and GPS machine control knowledge is advantageous. Allan Myers offers competitive pay and extensive training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years operating excavators in heavy civil construction.
• Experience in mainline pipe installation or mass excavation preferred.
• GPS machine control experience is a plus.
• Strong trenching safety knowledge and soil condition awareness.
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators (e.g., Cat 330, 336, 349 or similar) for digging, trenching and grading.
• Excavate for utility installation including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
• Perform bulk earthmoving, slope work, and grading on large projects.
• Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and laser levels.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation following OSHA standards.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Collaborate with crew members, site supervisors, and project managers.
