Job summary

The Obama Foundation in Chicago is seeking a Manager of Events to drive the campus event rental business, lead a dedicated sales team, and maximise revenue while aligning with mission priorities.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Earned Income, you will own the funnel, coach Senior Associates and Sales Coordinators, coordinate with Venue Management, and build strong relationships with clients across sectors.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of event rental sales or related revenue experience.
• Experience leading a sales team and coaching sellers.
• Proven CRM, pipeline management, and forecasting experience.
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting and margin analysis.
• Experience developing sales SOPs and workflows.
• Experience selling venues with multiple spaces and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead the steady-state event rental sales function, including revenue strategy, planning, pipeline management, client cultivation, proposal activity, booking pace, forecasting, and achievement of annual event rental revenue goals.
• Coach and develop Senior Associates and Sales Coordinators, manage inquiry tracking and proposals.
• Develop and implement SOPs for inquiry intake, qualification, response time, pricing, and handoffs.
• Own the funnel from inquiry to contracted business, ensuring proper qualification and conversion.
• Maintain CRM records with client details, event type, value, stage, close date, and forecasted revenue.
• Manage revenue performance vs budget and goals; adjust pricing, packaging, and space utilization.
• Ensure clean handoffs with Venue Management Operations after contract execution.
• Maintain relationships with clients across nonprofits, corporations, and civic partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
