Job summary

The Evaluation and Research Scientist at the Texas Education Agency conducts complex data analyses, manages multiple evaluation projects, and supports commissioner priorities with timely research. This role also oversees third-party vendors and prepares reports for the Texas Legislature and TEA staff.

Ideal candidates have SAS programming experience, strong knowledge of research methods, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college.
• At least three years of experience in conducting or managing research or program evaluations with knowledge of designing and conducting statistical analyses, managing complex projects, or designing/implementing data collection instruments.
• A minimum of one year in SAS programming or a similar programming software required.

Responsibilities

• Vendor management and coordination of evaluation activities.
• Prepare concise reports and summarize findings for audiences including the commissioner of education, Texas Legislature, TEA management and program staff, and the general public.
• Perform data analysis and SAS coding, documenting business decisions and responding to ad hoc data analysis requests.
• Quality control checks of unit products with a high degree of accuracy.
• Provide technical assistance, data analysis, and consultation to internal agency staff and external contracted vendors.
