Job summary

BlueScope is seeking a Lead Estimator to supervise a high‑performing team of estimators and sales engineers, guiding pricing strategy and ensuring timely, accurate quotations for pre‑order work. You will develop value‑engineering options, mentor staff, and partner with account managers to support complex design‑build opportunities.

The role requires engineering credentials, extensive experience in steel design or pre‑engineered buildings, and strong communication skills to interact with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with emphasis in Structural, Architectural, or Construction Management.
• Professional Engineer license; or 10 years of industry experience or 7 years of estimating experience in lieu of license.
• 7+ years of experience in steel design or pre-engineered metal building estimating/design.
• 7 years of customer quoting experience and direct involvement with sales.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high‑performing team of estimators and sales engineers.
• Provide timely, accurate quotations and pre‑order assistance.
• Develop value engineering ideas to meet timelines and reduce costs.
• Support pricing decisions with strategic pricing and workload prioritization.
• Collaborate with program managers, engineers and customers on complex projects.
