Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Senior Estimator - Underground Utilities to lead cost estimates for water, sewer, and related infrastructure. You will manage takeoffs, pricing, and bid packages from concept through submission, coordinating with engineers and subcontractors.

The role demands 10+ years in heavy civil estimating, with underground utilities experience, and proficiency in OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Excel, and HCSS Heavy Bid.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on heavy civil construction projects.
• 5+ years in underground utilities including storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution systems.
• Business Math skills to create and understand estimates and budgets.
• Ability to read and understand geotechnical reports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Acquire plans, specifications, soil reports, historical bid files, and historical job cost information to perform a detailed estimate.
• Coordinate quantity takeoff with the takeoff engineers.
• Coordinate and mentor assigned engineers to ensure takeoff is performed correctly and efficiently.
• Travel to jobsite and pre-bid meetings as required.
• Understand plans and specifications including project-specific requirements.
• Solicit subcontractor and material quotes and maintain documentation for good faith efforts.
• Contribute to preliminary schedule to determine pricing durations.
• Understand bid proposals including pricing based on labor productivity and requirements.
• Prepare detailed estimates and assemble bid packages for review by Senior Management.
