Job summary

Kimmel & Associates is assisting a client in the Baltimore/Washington, DC market who seeks a Construction Estimator. This role leads the estimating process from bid strategy to proposal submission, focusing on underground utilities and heavy civil projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience, strong knowledge of underground construction methods, and the ability to identify risks and opportunities in preconstruction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably heavy civil/underground utilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with HeavyBid estimating software is required.
• Strong knowledge of underground utilities, water/wastewater infrastructure, pipeline rehabilitation, and open-cut methods.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $2 million to $100 million.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid packages for heavy civil and underground utility projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop competitive bid strategies with the Chief Estimator and project leadership.
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
