Job summary

Kimmel & Associates is recruiting for a Construction Estimator to join a growing Mid-Atlantic estimating team in the Baltimore/Washington, DC market. The role leads the estimating process from bid strategy through proposal submission, collaborating with the Chief Estimator, Project Managers, field personnel, clients, and vendors.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil/underground infrastructure, deep knowledge of trenchless methods, and proficiency in HeavyBid

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably heavy civil/underground infrastructure.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with HeavyBid estimating software is required.
• Strong knowledge of underground utilities, water/wastewater infrastructure, trenchless construction, and open-cut methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, contracts, and technical documents.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from $2 million to $100 million.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid packages for heavy civil and underground utility projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project requirements.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop competitive bid strategies with the Chief Estimator and project leadership.
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Review plans and contracts to identify risks, exclusions, opportunities, and bidding considerations.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and field personnel to validate labor and production rates.
