Job summary

Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager in Nebraska to lead bids and manage projects from initiation to completion.

The role focuses on estimating, cost control, and achieving financial objectives for trenchless utility projects. The position requires extensive bid management experience, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, geotechnical or related field.
• Ten (10)+ years experience as an Estimator and/or Project Manager.
• Five (5)+ years field experience in utilities or underground construction, ideally as a Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Three (3)+ years experience managing others.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
• OSHA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Estimate, review, and submit bids accurately, timely, and competitively.
• Review customer drawings and expectations, identify areas of concern and develop creative solutions.
• Supervise preparation of pre-qualification, submittal and bid packages and all job correspondence.
• Follow-up on bids, solicit feedback, and maintain communication with customers throughout bidding.
• Build customer markets in targeted regions using business development strategies.
• Attend meetings (pre-bid, pre-construction, job) as required.
• Prepare and maintain schedules for each job and manage extensions when needed.
• Communicate schedules and layouts with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
