Job summary

Malcolm Drilling in San Diego, CA, seeks a Project Manager/Estimator to lead civil project estimating and management across deep foundations, retention systems, and dewatering scopes. The role includes site visits, reviewing geotechnical reports, and coordinating vendor and subcontractor quotes.

The successful candidate will prepare take-offs, estimates, budgets, and bid proposals, while negotiating contracts with legal support. Travel to multiple job sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering or construction management.
• 5+ years of related experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to travel to various job sites within the district.
• Meet deadlines for multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Project estimating and project management of civil projects with all types of deep foundations, retention systems, ground improvement, and dewatering scope.
• Perform site visits to evaluate site conditions.
• Study drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare take-offs, cost estimates, bid proposals, and budgets.
• Negotiate construction contracts with support from legal team.
• Prepare project submittals including construction means and methods, design calculation (design-build), specialty equipment, and required materials.
• Manage field quality and control costs.
• Understand and help implement required safety measures.
• Prepare project billings and close out project paperwork.
• Attend company-wide training.
