Job summary

STO Building Group seeks a Senior Estimator to lead estimating efforts for diverse commercial projects, ensuring cost accuracy and value. You will coordinate with architects, owners, and subs, preparing bids and schedules while reporting to executive leadership.

The role requires 5+ years of experience in commercial estimating, strong knowledge of estimating tools, and the ability to drive preconstruction success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction or equivalent education/experience.
• 5+ years estimating commercial construction projects across hard-bid, design-build and conceptual efforts.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to estimate comprehensively.
• Experience with all design stages: conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents.
• Proficiency with major estimating software and industry tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while coordinating team members.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads contract documents and offers value-engineering and life-cycle cost options.
• Performs quantity take-offs, prices, and analyzes data.
• Leads preconstruction efforts and collaborates with architects and owners.
• Solicits bids from subcontractors and suppliers and reviews pricing.
• Prepares bid proposals and attends owner meetings during estimate development.
• Develops detailed schedules for proposed projects and guides staff on special projects.
