Job summary

You will develop cost estimates, work with architects and consultants, and support GMP budgeting while building relationships with subcontractors and internal clients; a strong math mindset and knowledge of estimating software are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major.
• Internship experience in construction estimating is a plus.
• General knowledge of construction principles and processes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity take-offs.
• Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects.
• Clarifies scope with architects and consultants; documents clarifications.
• Reviews milestone documents for value-opportunity pricing.
• Participates in internal estimate review process.
• Assembles final estimate for owner presentation.
• Collects and organizes bid information for future reference.
• Supports field operations with change order pricing.
• Coordinates and provides information to subcontractors.
• Prepares subcontract scope exhibits.
• Participates in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting by soliciting subcontractor input.
• Builds relationships with subcontractors for competitive advantage.
• Attends industry events and represents McCarthy professionally.
• Builds and maintains relationships with internal McCarthy clients.
• Keeps current with estimating technology and techniques.
• Implements Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs.
