Job summary

Austin Commercial, part of Austin Industries, is seeking a Senior Estimator II for the Southeast Division to lead budgets, estimates, and bid packages for commercial construction projects. You will manage multiple projects, prepare take-offs, and collaborate with owners, architects, and subcontractors to develop accurate cost estimates and win bids.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of estimating experience, a technical degree, strong math and communication skills, and proficiency with estimating

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of estimating experience across competitive bid, negotiated, and conceptual estimating.
• BS/BA in engineering, construction science, architecture, or related field strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of construction materials, means and methods, and building designs.
• General scheduling knowledge to aid in accurate estimates.
• Strong math and analytical thinking; proficient with estimating software and quantity take-off tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to lead teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Completes quantity/cost take-offs.
• Prepares detailed deliverables and presents information from a knowledgeable standpoint.
• Assembles accurate and concise clarifications and assumptions.
• Identifies conflicts/missing data and obtains clarification on plans and specs from design professionals.
• Develops bid lists and invites subcontractors and suppliers to submit bids.
• Attends design meetings with owner and architect as estimating professional.
• Understands project scope and accounts for missing/upcoming design refinements.
• Works with subcontractors, designers, and owners to identify cost savings/value engineering.
• Reads RFPs and contracts to identify scope inclusions, terms, and risk.
• Obtains and reviews proposals and quotes by subcontractors or vendors.
• Reviews, corrects, and assembles the work of all others on the project.
• Reviews documents for onerous requirements.
• Enhances relationships with key vendors.
• Creates detailed indirect and direct general condition estimates.
